Fisheries University in AP soon

Nellore: Marketing Minister C Adinarayana Reddy said that the government is keen on establishing a Fisheries University in the state. Adinarayana Reddy along with another Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy inaugurated a new building of the Fisheries College located at Muthukur here on Friday.

The building was constructed at a cost of Rs 5.33 crore. Addressing the meeting, Marketing Minister has assured students of providing jobs after completing their courses. The Minister also appreciated the efforts of Somireddy for taking up new schemes in agriculture sector.

He stated Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy always speak lies. Adinarayana Reddy criticised local legislator Kakani Govardhan Reddy for making unnecessary comments against Somireddy.

Chandramohan Reddy said that development of Fisheries College and providing additional facilities were only done during TD regime. ‘There is 17.6 per cent growth rate in agriculture and related sectors in Andhra Pradesh whereas it is only 6 per cent at national-level. He mentioned that the AP Transco had reduced per unit cost for aqua to Rs3.68 from Rs 6.86 during TD government regime. 

Further, it has been decreased to Rs 2 recently. “We have been providing quality and uninterrupted power to aqua units across the state,” said the Minister. The ratio of girl students was more than boys in fisheries related courses, he added.

Minister Somireddy assured students of striving hard for providing employment opportunities to the students. MLC B Ravichandra, Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University (SVVU) Vice-Chancellor Dr Y Haribabu, Fisheries College Associate Dean Haribabu and others were present.
