Telugu Desam Minority cell flays Muslim self-respect meeting

Vijayawada: Telugu Desam Muslim Minority Cell president Shaik Hasan Basha and Muslim Welfare Council president Muqtar Ali submitted a memorandum to the Police Commissioner Dwaraka Tirumala Rao appealing him to cancel the permission given to the proposed Muslim self-respect meeting proposed by Muslim Hakkula Porata Samithi on November 2 as it would be aimed to divide the Muslims.

They appealed to him to keep a vigil on the organisers of the meeting—Farooq Shubli and Rahim—for attempting to instigate the Muslim youth against the State government.

The Muslim leaders stated that when there were several lakhs of Muslim population in the city, the meeting is being organised in a small hall which could accommodate only 300 persons.

“These people conveniently ignored the local MLAs and MLCs and even trying to mislead the local MP,” they alleged They said that these two persons were trying to disturb the peaceful atmosphere in the city by instigating the Muslim youth against the State government which would do more harm than good to the Muslims at large.

They alleged that the duo had been indulging in private settlements of disputes in the name of protesting the rights of Muslims. They demanded an inquiry into the properties of duo who amassed several crores of rupees under private settlements.

Moulana Afsar, Khadri Khan, Motor Syed Subhani, Khaza Mohiddin Babu, Syed Zilani and Ismail Shaik are among the Muslim leaders who met the Commissioner of Police.
