68 paddy purchase centres to be set up

Guntur: Joint Collector AMD Imtiaz has directed the officials to make arrangements to set up 68 paddy purchase centres to lift paddy from the farmers. Addressing a meeting at Collectorate here on Monday, he said that 13,91,966 metric tonnes paddy yield was expected in the district. The yield would enter the market in December, he said directing the officials to make arrangements to purchase paddy at MSP fixed by the Centre.

He reminded that the Centre had increased MSP for rice form Rs 1590 to Rs1770 and added that Primary Agriculture Marketing Societies, Cooperative Societies should submit proposals for purchase of paddy. He advised farmers not to give opportunity to defaulters.  Officials of DRDA and Civil Supplies Corporation were present.
