Failure to meet Rabi crop loan target irks Collector K Bhaskar
Eluru: West Godavari District Collector K Bhaskar expressed dissatisfaction over failure of officials to meet target set for issue of crop loan to farmers for Rabi season. He reviewed progress of farm sector at Collectorate here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that farmers spend about 40 per cent of crop investment during initial stages of the farming. The farmer would benefit when the officials extend the loans in this first phase of farming. Even if they issue loan at a later stage, it would be of no use for the farmers, he explained.
As against Rs 971 crore loan target set for tenant farmers, only Rs 411 crore was provided to the farmers so far, he pointed out. During the last week, only Rs 77 crore loan was released in the district. He directed the officials to issue show-cause notices to agricultural officers and assistant directors who had failed to meet the targets.
