Be aware of govt welfare schemes, villagers told
Kurnool: District Collector S Satyanarayana has visited the Chinna Tekur village on Thursday, as part of Grama Darshini programme. The Collector interacted with villagers and enquired with them whether the government welfare schemes are reaching them or not.
Villagers replied that they are availing the schemes, especially pensions and essentials from ration shops. Some villagers brought to his notice of receiving Rs 10,000 under Pasupu Kunkuma programme.
The villagers requested the Collector to remove the electric wires running parallel on their rooftops. Responding to their request, the Collector instructed electricity officials to lay power wires away from residential houses. The officials assured Collector of completing the task within a month.
Later, he visited government primary school and inspected the reading levels of fifth class students. Noticing errors in reading Telugu subject, he asked the students to read Telugu loudly at home.
He also inspected the kitchen room used for cooking mid-day meals and enquired about the supply of eggs and pulses. DEO Tehera Sultana, Deputy Director (Social Welfare) Samuel, MEO Omkar and other government officials accompanied the Collector.
