Vijayawada: Members of AgriGold Customers and Agents Welfare Association, which is fighting for justice to 32 lakh victims of the mega scam, have decided to launch indefinite hunger strike on December 28 at Dharna Chowk in Vijayawada as part of their struggle.

The association is in distress due to the lukewarm attitude of the government in resolving the problem. Association honorary president Muppalla Nageswara Rao and other members spoke to the media at the CPI State office. Muppalla said bike rallies and awareness programmes will be conducted in over 600 mandals in the State from December 4 to 22 and relay fast will be held at Dharna chowk from December 23 to 27.

Subsequently, association president B Viswanatha Reddy and secretary V Tirupati Rao along with others will begin indefinite hunger strike in Vijayawada on December 28.

Muppalla alleged that the TDP government was delaying justice to the victims on the pretext of court cases and pointed out that 211 agents and customers died during the last three years. Mupalla said that key persons in the AgriGold Company were roaming freely while lakhs of customers and agents are suffering due to the mega scam.

He condemned the arrests made by the police when the members of the association tried to go to Haailand as part of Chalo Haailand programme and earlier during the Chalo Assembly agitation. He regretted over the government using police force to arrest and intimidate AgriGold customers and agents who were demanding justice.
