APLSA to raise awareness on law among people: Judge Sunita

Eluru: The Andhra Pradesh State Legal Service Authority is committed to bring awareness among regarding various enactments and laws, said District and Sessions Judge G Sunita.

The legal services camp was inaugurated at St Theresa Degree College Auditorium here on Saturday.

Addressing the meeting as chief guest, Judge Sunita said that people should learn about the laws regarding the children’s rights and abolition of poverty. 

The legal service authority was entrusted with the responsibility of informing people below the poverty line as to how to avail the government schemes.

The district legal services authority has already conducted several programmes in various villages in the district to bring awareness among people, she said.

The judge said that sports kits to poor students in ten government schools and hand sticks to the aged were distributed under the aegis of Helapuri Lions Club.

District Collector K Bhaskar said that people should learn about various laws to avail their lawful rights. He said that parents should be aware of the rights of the children and every child below the age of 14 should be sent to school. “No child should be physically punished and few parents know this,” he regretted.

It is the responsibility of the officials to take the government schemes to all eligible poor, the collector said and added that people should know the legal rights and ex gratia in case of natural calamities and even the mentally imbalanced.

Later, sports kits were distributed to the poor students, washing machines and iron boxes were given to poor women.

First additional district judge Gopi, MLC Ramu Suryarao, Bar Council member Krishna Reddy, DIG Ravi Kumar, Bar Association president Vijay Kumar, DLSA secretary Sailaja and others were present.
