‘Cong favours political quota for OBCs’
Tirupati: Senior Congress leader Dr Chinta Mohan said that it was the Congress party which alone committed to the development of OBCs, who remained still backward in the country.
Speaking at OBC Convention held here on Monday, Mohan assured that his party will see that the OBCs are empowered by fulfilling their long pending demand for political reservation if the party is voted to power in 2019.
Making a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said his rule is the darkest period in the nation’s history with all sections hit hard by his misrule. He betrayed the OBCs and the country went several decades backwards, he added.
Stating that he saw three Prime Ministers were ousted after they turned inimical to people and the country, Mohan said that he will not rest till Modi is driven out in 2019 elections.
Former MP alleged that at the behest of Modi, the UGC brought a change in reservation implementation in the universities, taking departments as unit for roaster system instead of the university which he said detrimental to the sections availing reservation benefits.
Earlier, he along with OBCs leaders Somprakash and Rajeswari paid floral tributes to the statues of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and Ambedkar before the commencement of the meeting.
