Teachers receive Savitribai awards in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: The women division of Progressive Recognised Teachers Union (PRTU) organised a two-day award function to teachers from across the district. 

The teachers were given Savitribai Pule award here on Friday. The programme was organised by PRTU Sevadal president D Srinu to mark Savitribai Pule birth anniversary on January 3.

As many as 278 teachers from 50 mandals were given the award in 12 various categories on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest of the programme and International Lions Club Multiple Council chairman M Upendra said that education to women was given priority about 180 years ago which would benefit women in all aspects.

Honorary guest M Chandrakala complimented the awardees on the occasion.

About 800 teachers participated in the two-day awards programme.
