Soujanya enthralls audience with Bharatanatyam in Vijayawada
Vijayawada: An excellent Bharathanatyam recital of Soujanya was organized by Hyderabad-based cultural organization ‘Sangamam’ with the help of Vijayawada-based “Sumadhura Kala Niketan” at Tummalapallivari Kshetrayya Kalakshetram on Sunday evening before august gathering.
Soujanya, wife of Trivikram Srinivas, prominent film writer and director, is the disciple of Pasumarthy Ramalinga Sastry.
Though she started learning Bharatanatyam late, with dedicated and constant learning, she became perfect in the dance form and was able to give performances individually.
Soujanya is also pursuing classical music with Uma Maheshwari. Besides giving individual performances, Soujanya is also participating in the dance ballets like ‘Sasirekha parinayam’, ‘Telugu Vibhavam’ etc., along with her guru Ramalinga Sastry.
Soujanya commenced dance performance traditionally with Pushpanjali ‘Pari pari nee Padame’ composition of Balamurali Krishna. The artiste next moved to Saint Thyagarajaswamy kriti ‘Nagumomu kanaleni’, ‘Adharam madhuram’ and ‘Bhagavdgeeta’.
Soujanya is a fantastic dancer, having fluid, beautifully expressive face, which clearly exhibits the feelings while her body easily shifts through complicated rhythms and balances.
Prof Pasumarthy Ramalinga Sastry’s nattuvangam was perfect and made the programme success. DSV Sastry and Pasumarthy Padma rendered vocal support to the dance performance of Soujanya.
Instrumental support rendered by Rajagopalachari (Mridangam), while Chandrakanth on ghatam, Dinakar (violin) and VBN Murali extended flute support. Technical support was given by Ravindar Reddy (settings), Suresh (make-up), Surabhi Kishore (lighting) and Krishna (costumes).
The chief guest, Mandali Buddha Prasad, Deputy Speaker, Andhra Pradesh Assembly said that an outstanding performance was given by Soujanya and acclaimed appreciations from the entire auditorium.
The special invitee and movie artiste Sunil also appreciated the Soujanya’s performance.
The programme was organized by Sanjay Kishore and PV Bhaskara Sarma.
