Be ready for GP polls, Collector tells officials

Vikarabad: District Collector Syed Omar Jaleel on Friday directed officials to be ready for the soon to be conducted gram panchayat elections.

Addressing a meeting of MPDOs, EOPRDs and panchayat operators on the polls, he asked them to prepre gram panchyayat-wise voter’s list. He stressed that precautions should be taken to ensure that no voter is missed. 

The collector wanted all names to be included in the voter’s list, including those who registered on January 1 this year. He advised officials to work keeping in view the reservations, polling staff, among others. Already, Jaleel stated 3,000 ballot-boxes have been received by the district. He advised officials to create basic facilities in all polling centres in advance.

Jaleel questioned officials on the collection of property tax and water cess gram panchayat-wise. He wanted those EOPRDs who did not collect 70 per cent tax to immediately take steps for securing revenue, while warning of steps against those who failed to do so.
