Medchal to observe National De-worming Day on Aug 10

Medchal: Collector Dr MV Reddy ordered officials to distribute de-worming tablets to children aged between 1 and 19 years, on August 10 on the occasion of National De-worming Day, at district coordination committee meeting here on Monday. He also ordered them to distribute the same to the children on August 17, those who failed to receive on the scheduled date.
 
The collector explained the symptoms of tape worms (nuli purugulu) in one’s body like lack of nutrition and hemoglobin that leads to lethargy. Cleanliness in surroundings, taking safe drinking water regularly, avoid open defecation, cleaning of fruits and vegetables with fresh water will provide protection from tape worms, he said. The collector along with officials released posters and pamphlets. DRO Vijaya Kumari, DHMO Dr Narayana Rao, Programme officer Dr Raghunatha Swami, DEOs Tukaram Bhatt and Vijaya Kumari were present.
