Bus stops sans amenities raise commuters’ hackles

Malkajgiri: Local residents are facing severe daily hardship on account of lack of shelters at bus-stops in Vayupuri, Neredmet, Mudugulla, Vinayaknagar, Anandbagh, R K Nagar, Vaninagar, Sainagar and Mirjalguda areas, although the Telangana RTC spends crores of rupees on providing facilities to passengers. 

Speaking to The Hans India, the residents express ire towards officials that passengers are exposed to both hot sun and wet weather conditions. Several representations by local people to officials to provide shelters at bus-stops failed to get a favourable response because of their negligent attitude. Added to the misery of the residents, autorickshaw drivers park their vehicles blocking the path of RTC buses.

Some local while pouring out their woes informed THI that although the State government has changed, there has been no development with their fate remaining unchanged and problems eluding solutions for years. They complained that many students, employees, traders; elderly persons have to wait for buses without a shelter.

The residents wonder how long officials, politicians and the government would take to usher in development, while expressing anguish over the state of affairs. Besides, Venkatesh, Jillela Ravi Yadav, Prasanna, Narsimha Reddy point out that people have lost confidence that RTC would transport passengers safely to their destinations, is keeping in view the recent spate of accidents. They hope that at least now the officials concerned would act for putting up the much needed bus shelters.
