Demand to bring all private temples under Endowments Department

Narayanguda: The Srihara Archaka Welfare Association on Monday demanded inclusion of all private temples in Telangana under the purview of the Endowments Department. Addressing a press conference here, Gopikrishna Chary of the association stated that all archakas of temples should be paid salaries and other allowances, besides providing stay and job security. 

He demanded payment of a minimum salary of Rs 12,000, as per the Labour Act, and setting up of a committee to evolve a policy on ‘Dupa, Deepa, Naivedyam’ Scheme in temples under the GHMC limits. Chary welcomed the recent announcement by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao raising the salaries of archakas, while pointing out that their interests were neglected in unified Andhra Pradesh.
