NDA govt committed to farmers welfare: Prakash Javadekar
Tungaturthi (Suryapet): Union Minister for Human Resources Prakash Javadekar here on Friday said the NDA government led by the BJP was committed to the welfare of the farmers. He said the Centre had enhanced the minimum support price for 14 crops.
He was attending as a chief guest at the BJP State unit Jana Chaitanya Yatra meeting at Tungaturthi in Suryapet district. Addressing the gathering, Javadekar said the Central government had been taking several measures to protect farmers in all aspects. He mocked Rythu Bandhu scheme and described it as “a scheme of landlords.”
The Congress party had ruled the country for 40 years, but it failed to help the farmers. The BJP government within four years made considerable progress, he said.
During the Congress rule, the poor used to get only a part of the benefits. But in the BJP rule, there was no corruption and the people were getting full benefits, he claimed. He further said the government had increased the salaries of the workers by 42 per cent to ensure that the minimum wage is Rs 10,000 to one and all. The BJP was in power in 29 States.
The Central government had been implementing 106 welfare schemes for the poor, he said. A total 30 crore Jan Dhan accounts were opened across the nation and as many as Rs 3.85 lakh crore were deposited in the accounts under various schemes. He blamed the Opposition for stalemate in approving the Backward Classes Commission bill. He said the TDP would suffer defeat in the next elections.
