Save migratory Siberian birds
I've evinced curiosity in the migratory Siberian birds visiting Telineelapuram and chanced to see them aplenty after reading The Hans India article (Nov.19).
It is a picturesque panorama of beauty of nature to see them and hear atypical noises but as you rightly reported Titli cyclone wreaked a havoc on these foreign 'guests', Asian Open Bill Storks.
As I went around their habitat and spoke to the villagers, they were all praise about them which cause no harm to people or harvest but fetch their food like fish for brooding female birds and wait till the chicks come out of eggs and flow back by May.
They lamented that many birds died due to cyclone, the laid eggs were ruined but some are still there in the nests on the uprooted/damaged trees also.
It is a good eco- tourism spot but apart from bird nesting stands the government should also ensure safety measures and feed to save them, the treasure of nature. - Dr T Ramadas, Visakhapatnam
