Collector K Dhanunjaya Reddy asks MLAs not to mount pressure on officials

Palasa, Palakonda, Narasannapeta and Rajam MLAs appeal to Collector to provide compensation amount to cyclone victims at quick pace

• Says mounting of pressure on the officials will lead to unnecessary confusion and delays in preparation of Titli affected victims
• Warns the officials and cyclone victims not to resort to corrupt practices to get compensation under Titli relief 

Srikakulam: District Collector K Dhanunjaya Reddy requested people’s representatives not to mount any pressure on the officials in preparation of compensation lists under Titli cyclone affected areas.

Speaking at the Zilla Parishat General Body Meeting here on Saturday, the Collector said the mounting of pressure by public representatives on the officials would lead to unnecessary confusion and delay in preparation of lists and in distribution of compensation amount. 

He also warned the officials and cyclone victims not to resort to corrupt practices to get compensation under Titli relief. “If compensations proved fake, we will recover from them by lodging criminal cases,” he said. 

After commencement of meeting, Palasa MLA GSS Sivaji thanked Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for his quick response and staying for one week to oversee the rescue and relief operations in cyclone-hit areas. On the occasion, Palasa, Palakonda, Narasannapeta and Rajam MLAs appealed to Collector to provide compensation amount to cyclone victims on quick pace. 

For which Minister for Transport K Atchannaidu and ZP Chairperson Ch Dhanalaxmi assured that the preparation of accurate list of cyclone victims would facilitate speedy release of compensation. On the occasion, members of the Zilla Parishat and MLAs highlighted the issue of water supply from various irrigation projects and their modernisation works. 

Speaking on the issue, the Collector said that they will not provide water to paddy crop during current rabi season and he appealed to farmers to cultivate irrigated dry (ID) crops like maize. 

On the occasion, Transport Minister explained that Rs 392 crore funds distributed so far under Titli compensation to 3.72 lakh victims.
