Non-invasive diabetes device making unit comes up in Medak
Manoharabad: Information Technology Minister K T Rama Rao inaugurated international medical diagnostic company Diabetomics India. at the industrial area of Muppireddypally in Manoharabad on Saturday.
The newly built plant, for which the foundation stone was laid by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao two years ago, will manufacture first of its kind lower cost medical devices with non-invasive technique. The devices can diagnose sugar levels of patients suffering from Diabetes type-2. The diabetic patients can check their blood sugar levels with the device using their saliva.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Rama Rao said he was delighted to launch the medical facility of Diabetomics India Pvt Ltd in Medak district which is going to supply the cheap and easy medical equipment with non-invasive methods to diagnose and monitor the sugar levels for the diabetic patients.
He said there are 7.2 crore diabetics in the country and majority of the people are afraid of expensive diagnostics with injections and blood extractions, but the prevention is better than cure. The company will produce and supply the medical kits throughout the country at lower cost, the Minister said.
Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government was giving top priority to people’s health in the State by providing best health benefits starting from the new-borns by providing KCR Kits. So far 80,000 KCR Kits were distributed across the State. There is an increase in the admissions of child delivery cases to 40 percent at government hospitals and decrease in the caesarean operations and infant mortal rate at the same time. The Minister said it was a fillip for manufacturing medical devices and lowering the cost. He lauded the Chairman of the company for establishing the facility spread over 34,000 sqft area.
India is importing 70 per cent of high-end medical equipment and devices from foreign countries. The largest medical devices park in 250 acres in Sultanpur of Sangareddy district was established. As many as 13 companies has started their production to bring the cheap and best medical services to the availability of common people, the Minister said.
Diabetomics India Chairman Dr Varaprasad Reddy said the company will start its commercial production from the second half of the year with the target of 10 million test strips per year and assembling of 15,000 readers in starting with one fifth of the present market cost available to the ordinary people. Founder and CEO of Diabetomics Inc. Dr Srinivasa Nagalla said our aim is to provide the best medical equipment for 66 million patients in the country with lower cost.
He thanked the State government for its easy Industrial Policy TSiPASS and its cooperation in establishing the plant.
