Telangana Jana Samiti demands rehabilitation of poor at Gollapdu channel
Khammam: District Convenor of the Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS) S Papa Rao here on Wednesday demanded that the government provide permanent houses to the poor on Gollapadu channel before evacuating them from there.
The TJS leaders and activists visited the Gollapadu channel and interacted with the people who are living there for the past 40 years. Speaking on the occasion, Papa Rao alleged that it was not justifiable to force out the poor without taking measures to rehabilitate them.
About 3,500 families living on Gollapadu Channel for the last 40 years. The TJS leaders said the government was allotting houses for the MLAs and MPs. Then, why the government should shy away from rehabilitating the poor, they asked. TJS leaders Bhadru Naik, T Ramu, N Srinivas, J Ravi, Veeranna, Ravi Naik, Kittu and Nagul Meer were present at the programme.
