Elderly couple found murdered at home
Warangal: The neighbourhood at Hasanparthy mandal headquarters on Tuesday morning woke up to a ghastly murder of a couple. An elderly couple - identified as Gaddam Damodar (62) and his wife Gaddam Padma (58) - was found murdered at their house located near Warangal-Hyderabad main road in Warangal Urban district. They were said to have been killed late last night (Monday).
Unidentified assailants, who killed the couple, made away with about 30 grams of gold ornaments. The couple runs a kirana shop at their house and didn’t opened the door of their house long after the day break. The neighbours suspected something wrong and alerted the local police.
Police rushed to the spot and broke the doors open and found Damodar’s body lying on the bed in their bedroom while his wife’s body was found in the bathroom. The house-hold articles scattered all over the house. The assailants, before committing the crime, sprinkled chilli powder on the couple, the police said.
According to Hasanparthy circle inspector P Kishan, it was suspected to be a case of murder for gain. Damodar’s head was smashed with boulders and his wife’ throat was slit. The clues team and dog squad pressed into service and CCTV footages were being checked for clues.
A case under IPC sections 302 (murder), 449 (House-trespass in order to commit offence) and 380 (theft in dwelling house) was registered. The couple was survived by three children, one lives in London and two in Hyderabad.
Commissioner of Police V Ravinder informed that six teams were formed to probe into the case. The bodies were shifted to MGM Hospital for postmortem. DCP Venkat Reddy and others visited the spot where huge number of public gathered on learning the news of the murder.
