Police to act tough on gutka sellers
Khammam: Stringent action would be taken against the persons who indulged in anti-social activities, warned the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Task Force), A R Rehman here on Tuesday.
Acting on a tipoff that some section of people who were running retail outlets and pan shops were selling banned tobacco and gutka products, Police Commissioner Tafseer Iqbal ordered the Task Force officials to conduct a counselling session.
Receiving the orders from the Commissioner of Police, the ASP (Task Force) conducted a counselling session to about 40 members of retail outlets and pan shop owners here at his office in Khammam.
Speaking on the occasion, ACP Rehman said that the Police department was taking several steps for preventing selling and manufacturing of banned tobacco and gutka products which would harm the health of the individuals who would consume them.
Already the police arrested some people who were indulged in illegal whole sale business of selling of banned tobacco and gutka products and booked cases against them, he added.
Cases would be lodged against the owners of retail outlets and pan shops who sold the banned gutka products, warned the ACP. Circle Inspector of Police Karunakar and Assistant Sub-inspector Rama Rao were present along with other police officials during the counselling.
