No-trust motion moved against BJP Bhongir Chairperson

Bhongir: The Telangana Rashtra Samith, in coordination with the Congress, Communist Party of India-Marxist, Telugu Desam Party and three BJP dissident councillors, on Wednesday gave a notice for no-confidence motion against Bhongir Municipal Chairperson Surigi Lavanya, who belongs to the BJP. They submitted a memorandum in this regard to District Collector Anitha Ramachandran here on Wednesday. It is considered a sever jolt to the Chairperson.

A total of 24 councillors of ruling TRS, CPI-M, Congress, TDP and three BJP dissident members demanded floor test. In 2014 Municipal elections. the TDP and BJP combine won eight seats each and Surigi Lavanya, who belongs to the BJP, was elected as chairperson. She shifted her loyalty to the TRS during MLC elections. She, later, returned to the BJP during the Jana Chaitanya Yatra.
