Telugu Nadu Student Federation to stage dharna for tribal varsity
Khammam: Telugu Nadu Student Federation (TNSF) State unit coordinator D Sumanth here on Tuesday appealed to the TDP activists, students, representatives of tribal unions and intellectuals to take part Maha Dharna to be staged in Mahabubabad district on July 27 demanding that the Central government establish tribal university. The then government at the Centre made the promise during the debate on granting statehood for Telangana.
The representatives of the TNSF released the poster regarding Maha Dharna at Tribal Welfare Hostel (Boys) here. Speaking on the occasion, Sumanth alleged that the TRS government had failed in exerting pressure on the Central government for establishment of Tribal University in Khammam District.
The Central government had not fulfilled any of its promise which was made at the time of bifurcation of the State such as establishment of Tribal University, Bayyaram Steel plant and Railway Coach factory in Khazipet, he added.
When the TDP moved the non-confidence motion against BJP government, the TRS government did not support the TDP party and did not fight for the promises made to the State, he felt. He alleged that there was a tacit understanding between the Chief Minister and the BJP as the former was trying to Cabinet post for his daughter K Kavitha.
He also accused the TRS government of reneging on the poll promises like KG to PG free education, distribution of three acres of land to Dalits etc. TNSF members Chaganti Srikanth, Kasani Brahamam, Bhukya Ashok, Pramod Reddy, Chandu and Vamshi were present at the programme.
