Donations pour in for Kerala flood victims

Warangal: Donations are pouring in from across the Warangal Urban district for the victims of floods in Kerala. So far in three days, 14 persons contributed Rs 4 lakh in the form of DD/cheque/cash towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, according to district administration. This apart, a significant contribution of food and general items and medicines was also received from various quarters. 

Telangana’s first 15-year-old chess Grand Master Erigaise Arjun, accompanied by his parents Dr Srinivasa Rao and Jyothy, and Telangana Chess Association Vice-president Basiri Rajagopal and Warangal Chess Association member Tommy met District Collector Amrapali Kata and handed over a cheque for Rs 50,000 towards Kerala flood victims.  

Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari’s daughter Dr Kavya, who along with her husband Nazir, daughter Diya met the Collector and donated 
Rs 1.20 lakh. Medha Thanvi Gollapudi, who is studying Class IV, purchased clothes from her kiddy bank savings to donate them to flood victims. 

It may be noted here that district administration opened three counters – Old Collectorate, Subedari; the existing Collectorate at Julaiwada; Municipal Corporation office in Warangal – three days ago to collect donations from the people.
