Teachers accuse government of neglecting PET appointments for Urdu schools
Gunfoundry: Telangana Urdu Medium Physical Education Teachers Association organized a press conference at Media Plus Auditorium, Gunfoundry on Friday. All combined AP & Telangana states' districts have very few Urdu medium schools run by government and local bodies. Hyderabad is the only district which has a large number of Urdu schools. Because of the existence of large number of bi-medium schools (Telugu/ English, Urdu). Mostly Urdu medium related posts vacancies suffer when it comes to recruitments, particularity the PET posts/vacancies.
According to GOMS no 363 (finance) dt 10.11.08 of DSC 2008, a total of 2206 PET vacancies plus the 513 vacancies pending from the past were approved Making it a total of 2,719 approved posts. As per GOMS no: 159 Dt 05.12.08, a notification for appointments were issued, but it was very disappointing to observe that out of 2,624 posts that were filled up for PET posts only 21 posts were allotted for Urdu schools in the united AP State. In Hyderabad, where there are a large number of Urdu medium schools no vacancies were shown, while for Telugu medium schools 77 posts were shown, says Captain Syed Siddiq.
When information from the Hyderabad DEO was sought though RTI regarding the filing no of the 77 PET posts, a very surprising and sad fact came to light that there were 24 Urdu medium posts available. “Instead of doing justice and filing up the posts, the government only stopped the release of pensions to the then DEO Hyderabad, Victoria Dev Kumari.” says Siddiq. Dr Mohd Nazeer said, “In this regard we approached the State Minority Commission from where we got the judgment in favor. But it is sad that the only action that followed was the transfer of the Telugu medium appointed candidates from these Urdu medium schools, to their respective medium schools.
As per 2018 DSC notification, for the first time 31 Urdu medium PET posts were shown. But due to the unfortunate situation of the unavailability of material and guidance in Urdu, only 5 candidates could qualify. Thus, once again PET Urdu medium post would remain vacant, said Siddiq. Our request with the government is to remove minimum qualifying marks for Urdu medium PETs and the appointments to be made upon marks obtained. Because as per Sachar Committee report the condition of the Muslims is worse than that of the SCs/STs.
Moreover, the association members informed that from the last 3 DSCs, there is no second list after deserving the reserved post of SC/ST & BC. Therefore, it is represented that post of Telangana PETs Urdu medium to be filled as per merit and without fixing minimum qualifying marks for all Urdu medium candidates and de-reserve the reserved post.
