CPM to change candidate in Bhadrachalam

Update: 2018-09-08 05:30 IST

Kothagudem: The CPM is making all out efforts to retain the Bhadrachalam seat that it had won in 2014 Assembly elections. The party leaders are fully concentrating on the villages so that TRS could not make inroads in the rural areas of the Kothagudem district.

One rumor is also doing rounds that the Left party will change the candidate from Bhadrachalam Assembly constituency. Sunnam Rajaiah had won the Assembly election in 2014.

The problem is that MLA Sunnam Rajaiah belongs to the Sunnam Vari Gudem village of Vara Ramachandra Puram which is a submerged mandal of the Polavaram project at East Godavari district in AndhraPradesh.

So the Party is thinking that he would rather contest from Rampachowdavaram Assembly segment in AndraPradesh.  Meanwhile, the CPM toying with the idea of  fielding former Member of Parliament Dr. Middiam Babu Rao who is a resident of Dummagudem from Bhadrachalam Assembly segement this time. BabuRao had won the Parliament election in 2004.

He is a well-known person in the Bhadrachalam Assembly segment. Also, the party is of the view that to defeat the TRS candidate,  Babu Rao is the right candidate.

According to the sources, the name of Dr. Midiam Babu Rao is almost final and only formal announcement by the party leaders is awaited. Speaking to the Hans India, Midiam Babu Rao said, “I am ready to contest in any constituency in the Telangana State.  We are committed to the party rules,” he added.
