Voters enrollment in full swing in district

Kothagudem: Joint Collector K Venkateswarlu on Tuesday asked officials to be prepared to conduct Assembly elections that may happen any time.

Speaking to the Hans India, the Joint Collector said that the electoral officers are organising voters’ enrolment camps in villages and telling people about the importance of vote and getting them enrolled. September 25 is the last day for the voters’ enrolment, he added.

The Election Commission is conducting awareness camps across the State as Assembly elections may be held any time in the coming months. Meanwhile, Assistant Collector IlaTripathi told the Hans India that as many as 30 teams are busy in the campaign launched by the Election Commission to get the people enrol their names in the voters’ list. 

She said the district administration is focusing on the enrolment programmes being held in all villages, particularly the tribal villages. As part of the process, in 377 tribal villages, the Kalajatha programmes are being held. She said, “people should know the value of the vote and  its power.” 

She also directed officials to make full publicity by conducting mass campaigning and rallies in the towns.  She also explained the form 6 regarding enrolment of name in the voters’ list. 

The officials are directed to hold meetings in villages and towns to get the eligible voters enrolled before the conduct of the elections. All booth level officers and tahsildhars and Revenue and other officials are doing good job in the district, she added. 

The Joint Collector held a meeting with the local tahsildhars and inspected the voter’s lists.  He appealed to all the political party leaders to support officials engaged in voters’ enrolment programme and make it a success.
