Ramulu’s revolt imminent?
Hyderabad: The TRS is now facing tribal trouble ahead of the Assembly elections. Even as former MP Ramesh Rathod joined the Congress on Friday, the tribal face of the party and member of the Legislative Council Ramulu Naik is contemplating to contest as a rebel from Narayankhed in the erstwhile Medak district.
The TRS leader had a meeting with his followers from Narayankhed at the MLA Quarters in the city on Friday. Sources said the followers of Naik have urged him to contest as an Independent and suggested to him to resign if needed.
Ramulu Naik was preparing to contest from Narayankhed this time. However, the party has given the ticket to the sitting MLA M Bhupal Reddy, who won the byelection for the seat following the death of P Kista Reddy. This is the second TRS leader who has become unhappy with the party leadership in the ticket distribution.
Earlier, TRS leader Ramesh Rathod, who had resigned from the party, joined the Congress in the presence of Congress leader and leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Gulam Nabi Azad. It may be mentioned here that Rathod, former MP from Adilabad, joined the TRS with an eye on the Khanapur Assembly seat. However, the party gave the ticket to sitting MLA Rekha Naik.
