Musheerabad: Telangana Social People Organisations Front and Bahujan Left Party held a meeting on the subject “Let’s condemn caste racism killings and let’s fight for protection of inter-caste couples Act” at Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram, here on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, the noted dalit activist Kanche Iliaiah demanded that those who attack inter-caste couples be awarded with capital punishment.

He commended CPI-M party for announcing Amrutha, wife of Pranav who was recently killed for marrying upper caste woman, as MLA candidate. He said that no other political party has proper understanding on social change as CPI-M. BJP will never support inter-caste marriages and that is the reason why it opposed installing statue of Pranav, he alleged.

He demanded the government to bring ‘protection of inter-caste couples’ Act and it is named after Amrutha. He said that as Amrutha left a property worth Rs 100 crore for marrying a dalit, hence she should be given the entire property, he said. Tammineni Veerabadram, CPI-M state secretary said that 20 people have been killed due to caste related violence in the past four years in Telangana. He demanded that severe punishment be given to those engaged in such violence. In this context, he called people to strive for caste-less society. T-MASS state convener John Wesley, BLF chairman N Suryaprakash, M Lakshmi, Nagaraju and others participated in the meeting.
