Kanti Velugu operations fail
Warangal: Around 18 persons who underwent cataract operations under Kanti Velugu programme on September 22 are reportedly suffering from visionary problems due to infection.
The incident came to light late on Friday. Following complaints from the patients, the doctors reperformed surgery on Thursday. Even after second surgery, there was no improvement, it is learnt.
All the surgeries were performed at a private hospital in Hanamkonda. On Friday, the relatives of the patient brought the issue to the notice of District Medical and Health Officer Hareesh Raj. After an inquiry, he found that the patients needed a better treatment. He convinced the attendants and relatives of the patients and arranged a vehicle to send them to LV Prasad Eye hospital in Hyderabad.
The authorities said that they have sealed the operation theatre of the private hospital where cataract operations were performed, besides ordering an inquiry into the issue.
The victims are identified as Guguloth Bhagavan of Khanapur, Goparaju Buchamma of Hasanparthy, Bommakallu Venkataiah, Gorantha Sujatha, Marapaka lakshmi, Somani Lakshmi of Warangal, Mudike Rajaiah, Dulepaka Komuraiah of Bhupalapally, Allam Komuramallu, M Chandramogili of Atmakur, Ajmeera Megya, Ajmeera Janaki of Narsampet, Kakkerla Sarojana, Kandula Mallaiah of Hanamkonda, B Sarojana of Parkal, Manda Shanthamma of Shayampet Haveli and Meshaboina Komuramma of Mulug.
