Prominent biz man joins Congress
Hyderabad: In a significant development, prominent realtor and businessman Waliullah Sameer joined the Congress party on Sunday. Accompanied with his supporters, Sameer joined the Congress party in the presence of AICC Telangana in charge RC Khuntia and Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee (GHCC) Minorities Dept chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail on Sunday morning. Khuntia welcomed Sameer into party-fold by placing the Congress party's khandwa on his shoulders in a brief and simple ceremony at a city hotel.
Welcoming Sameer and his supporters into the Congress fold, Abdullah Sohail expressed confidence that his entry would draw a large number of businessmen and youth towards the Congress party. He said many more eminent personalities of Hyderabad were likely to join the Congress party in the next few days.
Speaking to media persons later, Sameer, Editor-in-Chief of Indian News Network (INN), a city-based news agency, said he has joined the Congress party following the call given by AICC president Rahul Gandhi to youth to join mainstream politics to save the country from communal and divisive forces.
He said only Congress could bring stability and economic empowerment in the country. Further, Congress is the only secular party in the country which takes along people belonging to all religions, caste and creed.
Sameer said communalism, intolerance and hatred was on the rise ever since BJP Government led by Prime Minister Narender Modi came to power at the State. By extending supporting to Modi government at all levels, caretaker Chief Minister and TRS President K Chandrashekhar Rao has strengthened the communal forces in Telangana in the last four-and-a-half years. He said KCR was a pseudo-secular and has been cheating the Muslims from the beginning.
MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi and other leaders too have played a crucial role in strengthening the BJP and Sangh Parivar through their hate speeches and polarisation of voters. The only force which can defeat BJP is Congress and the best alternate for PM Modi is Rahul Gandhi. For these reasons, I've joined the Congress party today, he said.
Sameer said he would work as an ordinary worker of Congress and would do anything possible to ensure party's victory in next elections. He thanked Shaik Abdullah Sohail for motivating him to join the Congress party and appealed eminent businessmen and professionals to join the Congress party. "The conditions of our country and community will not change if we remain a mute spectator. Active participation in the political process is the only solution to save democracy," he said.
