Kaleidoscope of events at Shilparamam

Madhapur: All India Saree Mela, Bathukamma festivities and Dussehra celebrations began with a grand note at Shilparamam on Wednesday. The festivities began with inaugurating the All India Saree Mela on its premises.

Artisans from all over India are participating in the 12-day long event to showcase the handloom works of their respective states. Sarees from Maharashtra, Venkatagiri, Narayanapet, Kashmiri, Lucknow, Banaras and more varieties set up in stalls for the onlookers. In the evening session, ladies’ staff of Shilparamam along with visitors indulged in Bathukamma festivities. The ladies danced for various songs of Bathukamma while moving around the decorated flowers.  

Following the Bathukamma festivities, the cultural events jointly organising by Shilparamam and South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavur began at Amphitheatre premises. Sanjay Joshi and group performed Kathak dance for various items. The group mesmerised the audience with their flawless efforts. Later, disciples of Chitra Narayana from Bharathanatyalaya performed a dance ballet on Durga Maatha. The group enthralled the audience with their spellbinding show.

The day-1 events emerged as a visual treat for scores of visitors at Shilparamam. All the events include All India Saree Mela, Bathukamma festivities and Dasara special events will be on till October 21.
