Treat Front vs TRS, Kutami leaders request Governor
Hyderabad: People's Front has requested Governor ESL Narasimhan to consider their alliance as a single entity in case of hung-like situation in the State. Further, it requested the Governor to call the single largest formation (alliance) to form the government if they get the highest number of seats than their prime opponent TRS. Obviously, Congress camp does not want a repeat of scenario seen in other states where hung assembly led to confusion and debates on who should be invited to form the government.
A delegation comprising Uttam Kumar Reddy, Bhatti Vikramarka, K Jana Reddy, Mohammed Azharuddin (Congress), L Ramana, Ravula Chandrashekar Reddy (TDP), Prof Kodandaram, Vidyadhar Reddy (TJS) and CPI leaders called on ESL Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan on Monday afternoon.
Addressing media later, Uttam Kumar said that People Front, as a forethought, decided to meet and bring this issue to the Governor’s notice, as it would be difficult to meet him for a few days after December 11.
He explained that Congress, TDP, TJS and CPI contested elections as a single entity (People's Front) forging a pre-poll alliance, with support from MRPS and Telangana Inti Party and the same was informed to the Governor. “We brought to his notice previous SC rulings in case of a hung assembly and constitutional validity for a pre-poll alliance,” the TPCC chief said.
Further, Uttam stated that they submitted a few documents to the Governor, including pre-poll alliance letter that was given to the Election Commission, CMP (Common Minimum Programme) that was drafted by alliance parties before going to the elections.
TJS chief Prof Kodandaram said that People's Front should be invited to form the government in case it gets a majority or the highest number of seats. Meanwhile, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) State unit president L Ramana said that TRS had entered into secret understanding with BJP and fresh statements from BJP state leadership were an indication. He said that pink party was having an understanding with MIM too.
Meanwhile, the Front sources stated that once counting process gets over, the highest number of seats should be judged between TRS and People's Front and not between TRS and Congress alone. "We don't want a majority or the highest number of seats to be counted between TRS and Congress because the fight was between TRS Vs Front. If TRS or Front gets an absolute majority then there is no problem on who should be invited to form the government.
But in the event of a hung assembly, then TRS or Front, whoever gets the highest number of seats should be given priority. The highest number of seats should not be judged separately like how many seats TRS, Congress, TDP, TJS, CPI won individually," a leader said.
