Metro Rail works spark traffic snarls

L B Nagar: Metro rail construction in the city has become a problem for commuters, costing them time and wastage of fuel. “Metro rail which is being developed to ease the traffic flow and public convenience is itself resulting in the traffic congestion. It is taking a minimum of 30 minutes just to cross LB Nagar signal,” said Manisha, a daily commuter. “The road near the signal is blocked. We have to travel more than 1 km to take a U-turn. The construction has already taken half the space of the road. Just to cross a distance of 50 mts, we have to travel an extra 1 km,” she added.

“Metro work is going on for too long in L B Nagar.  It is not much of a hassle travelling from Ameerpet to LB Nagar but to go home in reverse direction there is a huge traffic problem. It takes more than an hour just to travel 15 km. LB Nagar has been infamous for traffic congestions and now because of the construction work, it has increased multifold. We understand that Metro rail construction is for the betterment of the city, but the slow construction is burdening the commuters,” said Yadaiah, a private employee.
