ECIL: Heavy traffic jams in the area are taking toll on commuters. Each traffic jam lasts up to 20 minutes, which is causing inconvenient to ambulances in this area. It is reported that on an average three to four ambulances get stuck in traffic jam at the ECIL Cross Roads.
In a radius of 6 km there are close to 15 hospitals. Dr Ravi Kiran, private practitioner said, “I work as consultant in three hospitals and have been hearing about delay in ambulances coming to the hospitals due to traffic jam.
Revathi Muthuswamy, a resident of Sainathpuram, said, “There are quite a number of schools near ECIL, and as a result traffic is chock-a-bloc during school time. My father-in-law, who was hospitalised in Paulomi Hospital, too was stuck in a traffic jam en route to the hospital.
It has been over two decades since the ECIL crossroads came into being but in the meantime, population grew multifold, but the GHMC officials failed to expand the roads. “
