First prize to Beti Bachavo and Beti Padhavo tableaux
Karimnagar: District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed started the 70th Republic Day celebrations by hoisting the national flag at police parade grounds in Karimnagar on Saturday. After that he took the salute from the contingents of police and paramilitary personnel and the bands from various schools that enthralled the audience gathered to watch the grand parade and celebrations.
The rally with tableaux of various government departments explaining their role and highlighting various welfare schemes introduced by the State government engaged the audience. District Welfare Department’s tableaux explaining 'Beti Bachavo and Beti Padhavo' won first prize and that of Animal Husbandry Department got second prize and tableaux of Agriculture department got third prize. Cultural events organised in the police auditorium.
Students of various educational institutions in the city performed dance and dramas. The Collector distributed cheques and units worth Rs 22.48 crores to the beneficiaries that were sanctioned under various departments. He felicitated freedom fighters and handed over the appreciation certificates to the best employees of various departments and distributed prizes to those, who performed well in the events organsied on the occasion.
MLC Naradasu Lakshman Rao, MLA Gangula Kamalakar, Police Commissioner Kamalasan Reddy, Election Observer Bharati Lakpathi Naik, Joint Collector Shyam Prasad Lal, Assistant Collectors Praveenya and Rajarshi Shah, District Revenue Officer Bikshu Naik, City Municipal Commissioner Satyanarayana, RDO Anand Kumar and ZP CEO Venkata Madhava Rao were present along with other officials.
