Minister Harish Rao asks Congress to see development across Telangana
Bhupalpally: Instead of sticking to Gandhi Bhavan, come out and see the development across the State, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao told the Congress leaders. Launching the renovation works of DBM-38 canal under Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) in Regonda mandal on Thursday, he said that efforts are on to ensure water to even tail-end ayacut. The Minister also inaugurated and 5,000 MT godown in Regonda.
Referring to the progress of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP), the Minister said: “We are making all efforts to complete the work before the deadline. Even the Central Water Commission (CWC) expressed satisfaction over the pace at which the project works are in progress.”
The work is being carried in three shifts to complete the project in just 20 months, Harish Rao said, stating that in normal circumstances the same work will take seven to eight years. He said that Bhupalpally will get KLIP waters before this year’s rainy season.
He said that focus of the government is to give a fillip to farming sector. The government, which waived off crop loans, has also plans to provide financial support to farmers by giving Rs 4,000 per acre twice in a year, he said. This apart, the government had so far constructed 18 lakh MT godowns for the benefit of farmers.
The Congress leaders are confined themselves only to press conferences in Hyderabad. Instead they should come out and notice the development taking place across the State, Harish Rao said. “Come what may, the TRS will rule the State for the next 20 years,” he said.
Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is working towards the goal of irrigating one crore acres in the State. No other government had so far worked with commitment towards the welfare of the farmers, he added.
He said that due to Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary’s efforts, the Bhupalpally constituency has been witnessing a huge development. MP Pasunuri Dayakar, ZP Chairperson G Padma, legislators Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Challa Dharma Reddy, A Ramesh, B Venkateshwarlu, TS Handicapped Development Corporation Chairman K Vasudeva Reddy and Joint-Collector D Amay Kumar were among others present.
