Efforts on to solve Madikonda dumping yard pollution
Hanamkonda: Efforts were being made to find a solution to the problem of pollution caused by Greater Warangal Municipal Corporations’ dumping yard at Madikonda, said Warangal Urban District Collector Amrapali Kata.
It was planned to employ modern technology to recycle the garbage disposed at the dumping yard, she said speaking at an awareness campaign on Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan and Swachh Survekshan at Pingle Women’s Degree and PG College in Hanamkonda on Monday.
The Collector called upon the student community to play active role in achieving the objectives of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan and to take part in Swachh Survekshan survey to get better ranking to the city. She explained different initiatives being taken by the district administration in dealing with dry and wet wastage.
District Legal Services Authority secretary P Annierose Christian explained the legal issues being faced by the women and girl students. The open defecation was a bane and cause of several health issues in rural as well as urban areas in the country, she said adding Swachh Bharat aimed to end the menace.
The awareness programme was organised by the Warangal unit of Directorate of Field Publicity (DFP) Song and Drama Division in coordination with Nehru Yuva Kendra, and Doordarshan to sensitise students and general public on Swachh Bharat theme.
DFP field publicity officer Ardha Srinivs, Pingle College principal G Indira, deputy director I&PR D S Jagan, NYK district coordinator NS Manoranjan, charted accountant Manu Ramshetty and others were present. Prizes were distributed to winners in essay writing, elocution and painting competitions.
