Meet on Augmented Reality & Cognitive Science at VNRVJIET

Hyderabad: A five-day workshop on Augmented Reality and Cognitive Sciences was inaugurated at VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering & Technology here on Monday. 

This workshop, coordinated through the centre for Research on visio-haptics established recently under the aegis of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, is intended to create awareness and provide hands-on experience on augmented reality (AR) to the participants.

 Prof. Ramesh Kumar Mishra, Head of the Centre for Neural and Cognitive Sciences (CNCS) at the University of Hyderabad, was the Chief Guest. He explained how Philosophy, Psychology, Artificial Intelligence, Neuroscience, Anthropology, Linguistics together define cognitive science and help understand human behaviour. 

His address elucidated how different cognitive systems such as attention and visual information dynamically interact to produce human cognition and language processing. The workshop also features talks and hands-on sessions by industry experts including Arvind Neelakantan, Product Evangelist-Unity Technologies, and Vaibhav Bhandari, Founder-Game Studio Private Limited. 

Principal Dr. CD Naidu, Director for Advancement, Dr. B ChennaKesava Rao, the Head of the Research and Consultancy Centre Dr. G. Ramesh Chandra, the Head-CSE BV Kiranmayee, and the Deputy Dean Dr. B Narendra Kumar also delivered a speech. Over 150 students and faculty members of the college and other engineering colleges attended.
