DAV Public School celebrates Women’s Day
Hyderabad: The International Women’s Day was celebrated on a grand scale in DAV Public School here with a large number of women, local residents and staff attending.
As many as 200 women participated in ‘havanotsavam’, which symbolised women’s rights and protection. Over 100 havan vessels were used in the event amid chanting of Vedic hymns. There was good response to the havan conducted in the lines of Arya Samaj. Vittal Rao Arya, president, Telangana Arya Pratinidhi Sabha, was the chief guest. As many as 400 women danced with enthusiasm to Telugu and Hindi songs.
Addressing the gathering, principal K Parthipan stated that this was the first international women’s day celebrations organised by the school. The institution always stood for women’s rights and protection and would take steps for all-round development of students, aided by total freedom and values.
He said such events would pave the way for women achieving liberty and self-reliance. He listed achievements of the school saying scholarship of Rs 45,000 was being paid to students intending to join 10 plus one. It was paid to those who secured more than 90 per cent marks in SSC. if a student remitted Rs 22,500 coaching was being offered to those interested in appearing for IIT and EAMCET entrance tests.
