10 hurt as TRS, Cong leaders clash in Pikla Naik Thanda

Chintalapalem (Suryapet): The workers of the Congress and the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi clashed during a poll campaign of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy at Pikla Naik Thanda of Chintalapalem mandal of Huzurnagar constituency in the district on Friday injuring over 10 persons.

According to sources, local TRS leader Shiva of Pikla Naik Thanda attended Uttam Kumar Reddy's poll campaign meeting held in the village and questioned Uttam about the services rendered by State Congress chief for the development of Pikla Naik Thanda.

Expressing angst over TRS leader's attitude, Saidulu, brother of Congress party ZPTC candidate and his associates attacked Shiva with chairs. After receiving the information regarding the attack, the TRS supporters rushed to the spot. Soon, the two groups started pelting stones at each other.

Even though the TPCC chief tried his level best to convince the party leaders during the attack, his efforts went in vain.

In retaliation of mass attack on their party leader Shiva, the TRS workers of the village damaged the house of Congress ZPTC candidate Lakavath Ramarao. As many as 10 workers of both Congress and the TRS were reportedly hurt in the clash and were shifted to hospital for treatment. Police, who rushed to spot, caned both groups to disperse them.
