46 members speak during Zero Hour in Assembly

Hyderabad: In a record of sorts, as many as 46 members talked in the Zero Hour in the Assembly on Friday. Most of the members raised issues pertaining to their constituencies.

Speaker P Srinivas Reddy took up Zero Hour at around 11.30 am and asked the members to be specific about their questions. The Speaker has been giving chance to the MLAs to raise their issues during the Zero Hour and every day on an average 35 members have been raising their issues in the House. However, on Friday, 46 members talked in the House.

The demands raised by members including government whip Gampa Goverdhan wanted government to convert the housing scheme in Kamareddy from single house to double bedroom house. Mancherial MLA N Diwakar Rao wanted 3 tmcft of water to Kadem reservoir since out of the 7 tmcft of water 3 tmcft was at dead storage.

The Congress member Anasuya asked the government to make arrangements at Medaram Jatara starting in February 2020. TRS member B Haripriya Naik wanted the government to set up Bayyaram steel plant, T Rajaiah demanded the government to establish Leather Park in Station Ghanpur.

The Hyderabad MLAs including Moazam Khan urged the government to take up audit of the Telangana Minority Residential Educational Institutions Society (TMREIS), Mumtaz Khan wanted road widening adjacent to Charminar stating that because of Charminar Pedestrianisation Project roads had become congested.

Congress member Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy demanded that the government should direct the companies/industries to provide jobs to locals. He said that the pharma and other industries are setting up industries, but they are not giving jobs to locals.

He stated that the atmosphere and water resources are getting polluted because of industries. "The outsiders are enjoying the jobs and the locals are made to suffer with pollution," said Rajagopal.
