Capturing the world around
'Within Reach X' is the 10th show in the series which began in 2010. It is an annual enterprise of Gallerie Nvya, Saket, New Delhi. The exhibition brings together works of new and young artists, who are emerging and share a multifarious palette and are new to the gallery.
Through 'Within Reach', Gallerie Nvya provides a platform for emerging artists in a space shared with some of the more established names. The emphasis of the show is to showcase fine art of new and different media and encourage young collectors to build their collection by keeping the prices attainable. All the artists use a variety of mediums to produce their traditional and experimental art with the exploration of different themes.
Sculptor Shivarama Chary's work 'Blossoming Love', gold dipped bronze sculpture is inspired by nature. He says, "The whispering of the flying cupid is conceived as the connoisseur of the Venus like feminine figure, who is just born out of a flower. Figures are shown without facial expressions only to show the curtailed feelings."
Mohammed Osman, who is distinctively trying to present Telangana culture through his 'Gangireddu' on the canvas, showcases his signature work. He says, "There is no story in my work. I just try to show the beauty along with my best skills. My child hood, my village are the reasons for this gangireddu (decorated Ox).
I lived in village for twenty-five years and am strongly connected to my village and my roots there. And I have chosen gangireddu because I found it very interesting with beautiful traditional elements in it. I feel it's nothing less than a beautiful composition of art."
On the other hand, another artist Malavika Reddy displays five of her works. She says, "These paintings have been done on paper using multiple mediums to bring the effect I wanted to achieve. I named the story 'A place called Here'.
The title of my story is taken from the title of Cecelia Ahern's book (A place called Here). I want these paintings to transport the viewer to a different world; in the moment when they are indulged with the visual, they may experience, for that brief period of time that they were in the Here and Now. This work is largely inspired from nature, the love for magic and the surreal and you can also find the influence of my "Without Acid" series of works."
