CP Iqbal asks people to beware of cyber criminals
Wyra (Khammam): With the rapid increase in the internet users in the country, incidents of online frauds have become rampant, the Commissioner of Police (CP) Tafseer Iqbal said. He advised the people to be wary of cyber criminals and be careful while engaging in online financial transactions.
Due to lack of awareness about cyber security, cautions should be taken during online transactions as many are being duped, he said. The CP addressed a gathering of as many as 1,400 students of different colleges at Wyra on Tuesday as part of cyber safety awareness programme. One should not share his or her bank card details with anyone, especially with those making phone calls offering bank loans.
Explaining problems being posed by social media platforms like Whatapp, Facebook, Twitter and others, he said material hurting others sentiments and immoral content was being spread on social media sites widely and it was turning women and children into victims of crimes.
In addition, girls and women are trapped and exploited in the name of love and marriage. As the apps are being offered free of cost one should not download every app and be cautious about them, Iqbal noted.
Steps would be taken to create awareness on 'Cyber Rakshak' to help women to protect themselves from cyber crimes, he informed. Wyra ACP Prasanna Kumar, CI Ramakanth and others were present.
