Hyderabad: Director General of Police (DGP) M Mahendar Reddy on Thursday inaugurated one day workshop to the Investigating Officers (IOs) on issues related to marital cases organised by NRI Women Safety Cell in Hyderabad.

Speaking in the inaugural session, the DGP said that the IOs and SHOs should be sensitive and empathetic to the needs of the victims. He said that the challenge of the NRI Woman Safety Wing is to provide a common level playing field for the victims as the accused is outside the country.

The DGP stated the challenge is to provide proper direction for the victims in proceeding with the complaint. The credibility and confidence of the victim can be gained through spontaneous response and sensitivity shown by the IO and the staff, he stated.

The IOs and SHOs were briefed about the procedures to be adopted in such cases and ensure that they are taken to their logical end. A session on gender sensitisation was also held for all the officers.

The workshop included the sessions on genesis, functions and road map of NRI Women Safety Cell, process of complaints, procedures, sensitisation and investigation in such cases with case studies which were delivered by various speakers.

IGP, Law and Order and incharge of Woman Safety Wing Swati Lakra, other officials and SHOs and IOs working in the women police stations across the State participated in the workshop.
