All netas after youth to rev up poll campaign

Hyderabad: Youth are in high demand in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections. The ruling TRS and BJP are vying with each other to hire youngsters to join their intensified poll campaign from Saturday.

Rich contestants from both parties are employing youth in big number from neighbouring districts to help the campaign in the next 10 days until the polling day on December 1. They are being paid Rs 1,000 a day and given free accommodation besides food.

Youth working with online home delivery food and grocery agencies are keen to take part in the campaign, as their daily earning is higher than their regular jobs. Some of them are already taking part in rallies as team leaders, while some have been assigned management tasks of campaign material, mainly distribution of party flags, pamphlets and voter slips at doorsteps of residents in colonies.

A Narendar of Kothapet said he is earning more money in the poll campaign than what he used to get in the home delivery profession. The candidates also promised additional amounts if they won.

Youth working in other informal sectors, mainly as daily wagers in big malls and hotels, are also joining as members of campaign teams.

The TRS and BJP are hiring youngsters in big number to show off their strength during the campaign.

Leaders of LB Nagar, Uppal , Kukatpally, Seri Lingampally and Qutbullapur assembly constituencies in the GHMC limits are hiring youth from Nalgonda, Ranga Reddy, Medak and Warangal districts to meet the demand for campaign in next one week.

Skilled youth in mobile technology are also being hired to take up campaign through smart phones and on social media. They are being paid Rs 1,500 a day. They are being entrusted job of conducting random survey to ascertain voters' mood and the winning prospects of the candidates.
