Update: 2020-02-06 00:02 IST

Baghlingampally: The second State conference of the Civil Liberties Committee (CLC), Telangana, will be held at Sundaraiah Kalakshetram here on Aril 11 and 12, 2020. A reception committee was formed for the conference with intellectuals, democratic organizations, and others, with Senior Journalist Pasham Yadagiri as its chairman.

Yadagiri released a pamphlet relating to the conference on Wednesday. Speaking to the media, he said that many intellectuals, journalists, judicial personalities from all over India would participate in the conference. He regretted that the governments of the day were resorting to repressive measures and using the police force to suppress all those who were fighting against the evils of loot, discrimination, untouchability, imbalances, hunger, unemployment, etc., instead of going into the reasons for this unfortunate situation prevailing in the country and finding solutions for the same.

The governments were throttling the voice of democratic forces and taking away their right for free expression and right to live. Those who were questioning the undemocratic and suppressive measures were being killed or kept in jails for years together without a trail. Yadagiri further stated that while agitations were going on against NRC, CAA, and NPR, the Government unleashed a reign of terror and torturing the intellectuals, democratic lovers, writers, and workers.

There was the need to fight for protecting peoples' rights and constitutional guarantees and freedom of expression, he said and called upon all the sections to participate in the CLC conference and make it a success, he added.

Prof. Laxman Gaddam, CLC president, V Raghunath, vice-president, N Narayana Rao, general secretary, and P M Raju, city president, were present at the event.
