Patancheru: Sangareddy District Collector M Hanmanth Rao on Monday inspected the 10-day 'Pattana Pragathi' works in ward II of Tellapur town along with Municipal chairperson Lalita Somi Reddy, Vice-chairman Ramulu Goud and Councilors Babujji, Latchi Ram Naik, A Chitti Umesh, Pavani and Lalita.

Rao interacted with residents to know their problems. After they brought power problems, including low voltage, to his notice, he wanted Transco officials to ensure that poles are not bent, rusted and placed in middle of roads and that there are no transformers on footpaths. Rao stressed that they should make power set-up accident-free. He asked them to promptly solve people's problems.

If found necessary, Rao suggested that transformers be changed and wires hanging over houses be shifted. He said the funds necessary for such works would be sanctioned, if proposals are submitted.

The DC advised the Transco officials to check power wires and transformers daily and to ensure that streetlights are not switched on during day and they function properly. He wanted greenery on either side of roads and dump yards set up to get rid of garbage. The segregated garbage should be converted into vermi-compost to be used as manure.

Rao later moved towards 1,2 and 3 and interacted with residents. He addressed 'Pattana Pragathi' committee meetings with stress on keeping the wards clean and green by the residents with a sense of belonging. He advocated the need for ensuring plastic-free Sangareddy. Rao warned of stringent action, including fine of Rs 500, against those who don't cooperate with garbage disposal norms and for dumping it on roads. He promised to provide tractors and autos to dispose of garbage.

While interacting with youth, the DC sought their cooperation in ensuring success of the Haritha Haram programme, while ensuring success of the planted saplings. He advised officials to create public awareness on the new municipal Act, with a warning to act tough with those resorting to illegal constructions.

While stressing the need for making Tellapur beautiful, he called for installation of CC cameras and assured to provide the needed facilities to make the wards models. He directed the municipal staff to clear drainage nalas of waste and to take up bleaching to check spread of flies and mosquitoes.
