Hyderabad: Dr MCR HRDI administers anti-dowry pledge to trainees
Hyderabad: Dr MCR HRD Institute of Telangana celebrated the International Women's Day-2020, which comprised a bouquet of innovative events. As a part of the celebrations, Sri Harpreet Singh, IAS, Additional Director General, Dr MCR HRD Institute administered a 'Pledge against Dowry' to the Trainee Civil Servants, Military Engineer Services Probationers, and ASOs of Central Secretariat Service, Govt. of India & Telangana Secretariat, who are attending their respective Foundation Courses at the Institute.
Harpreet Singh said that an active role on the part of youth would be greatly instrumental in eradicating the social evil of dowry which hits at the very foundation of Women's Right to Equality.
The 'Pledge against Dowry' was followed by a mini marathon, 'Run for Women's Rights,' which was flagged off by Sri Harpreet Singh, IAS. All the Officers ran for a distance of 3.5 km. The purpose of this initiative was to raise awareness for the rights of women among youth.
"Despite great strides made by the international women's rights movement over many years, women still lag behind in multiple domains. Mere legislation is not enough. A strong social movement, with the active involvement of youth, is the need of the hour", opined the Officers unanimously.
The officers attended the paintings exhibition of Miss Udaya Chiluveru and participated in the Collective Art Camp. They made a number of creative paintings depicting the theme of women empowerment. Udaya Chiluveru stated that the purpose of the exhibition and the camp was to raise awareness among women towards their empowerment in order to enable them to transform their lives and break the vicious cycle of poverty for themselves and their families. She further stated that women have great potential and the need of the hour is to make full use of it.
A large number of officers, faculty, staff and trainees of the institute attended the event.
