International snacks festival kicks off in style
Ameerpet: The three-day international snacks festival got off to a colourful start here on Friday. B Venkatesham, Secretary, Department of Youth Advancement, Tourism and Culture said, "Hyderabad is always known for unity in diversity. People from different states such as West Bengal, Punjab, Gujarat, Bihar and Kerala are going to showcase their culinary skills and food."
The international snack festival is organised by Department of Tourism, Department of Language and Culture, HMRL, CLIC (Culture Language India Connection) and L&TMRHL. The festival is being organised at four metro rail stations and 12 participants would display their food in each metro station.
This is an extension of food festival which was conducted in Gymkhana. The event will be hele for 3 days from 3 pm to 9 pm at Ameerpet, MGBS, Hitec City and Uppal metro station.
NVS Reddy said that, "In Hyderabad there are many people of different cultural backgrounds. The aim is to make snacks of different states accessible." Nisha Kumari, a housewife from Bihar who participated in the event said that, "When it comes to cultural food not everyone knows about what actually is the food item.
In Hyderabad it is very difficult for you to find all your cultural foods. This is a good platform where we can not only sell our cultural food and snacks but also to make people aware and taste these cultural foods.
Our cultural foods like dal peetha with dhaniya chutney and sattu ka paratha are the most famous dishes of Bihar. One from Bihar cannot easily find these foods here."The students from foreign countries also participated in the event.
